About Us
Humble Start
The Laurel Creek Track & Field Club was originally formed in 1978, by several University of Waterloo professors with
an interest in road races.  The Club's name originated from the fact that the professors' favourite training route was
in the Laurel Creek Conservation Area.  Following the humble start, the Club soon evolved into a summer home for
several University of Waterloo track athletes.

Ranking
Ten years later, in 1987, Laurel Creek moved into the realm of high school coaching in the Kitchener-Waterloo area.
The Club never looked back, and reached an all-time high 4th ranking in Canada in 2000.  After losing most of the top
athletes to retirements and U.S. colleges, the Club started a successful rebuilding process in 2001.  In 2002 the Club
ranked 17th of 48 indoors, and 13th of 55 clubs outdoors and, in 2003, 8th of 60 clubs outdoors in Ontario.  In 2008
Laurel Creek ranked 4th indoors, and 7th out of over 80 clubs outdoors.  In recent years, the club has grown to an
organization of over 100 registered athletes,  serving not only the Kitchener-Waterloo area, but working with
athletes from centres such as Stratford, Brantford, and Drayton as well.  With this expansion, the organization is
optimistic that we will be able to further improve on these rankings in the coming years.

Coaches
The Club has also produced its share of Canadian National Team coaches. Since 1987 the Club has had five coaches
selected as coaches to Canadian National Teams:  Janusz Tomko, Gary Crossley, Roly Bullock, Terry Goodenough
and Richard Parkinson; an unequaled feat in the Kitchener-Waterloo region.
